Not all Nintendo Switch games will be saved in the cloud

Some as prominent as Pokémon Let's Go! or Splatoon 2 will lose this feature.

There is no doubt that we will learn more about Nintendo Switch Online when Nintendo Direct is finally issued, postponed this week, although, in recent days, some netizens have discovered a novelty on their own: as you can read in the official files of several games of the Japanese publisher, not the entire Switch catalogue will enjoy the cloud storage offered by this subscription service.

If you enter the Pokémon tab Let's Go, Pikachu! / Pokémon Let's Go, Eevee! You will see a small text at the end that says "this game is not compatible with cloud storage of backup copies". Unfortunately, you will find the same label in Splatoon 2, Dark Souls: Remastered, Dead Cells, NBA 2K19 or FIFA 19.

What is this about? Nintendo has contacted Game Informer to explain the reasoning of these decisions, indicating that certain games are intentionally excluded from the compatibility with saved in the cloud to avoid the unfair behaviour. For example, the possibility of abusing the competitive mode in Splatoon 2 by keeping the victories and restoring the previous game after a defeat. Or multiply the mighty Mewtwo in Let's Go if you exchange it with a friend and then recover the previous save.
