At Electronic Arts they will adopt a "wait and
observe" tactic with the machine.
Electronic Arts, through the mouth of one of its main
executives Blake Jorgensen, has spoken with the Wall Street Journal about the
relationship between the publisher and the video game console Nintendo Switch.
The executive assures that they try to understand "what
is the demand" for everything that surrounds the Nintendo video game console before continuing to develop
video games for the hybrid machine. At
the moment they only have in project Faith, that leaves for Switch, and also
for PC, PS4 and Xbox One at the beginning of 2018.
Recall that, before this decision not to create more
short-term games for the console, Patrick Soderlund, EA executive, said they
wanted to "be a part of Switch and help Nintendo to grow the user base of
that platform".

This is just a sensible business decision. Lighten up.
ReplyDeleteIt sensible for EA. EA doesn't make good single player games which is what the primary market is on the Switch. They recently closed down one of their best studios in Visceral games and purchased a new Studio Respawn which makes games that are online multiplayer focused. However, for companies like Capcom, Namco, Bethesda, and Altus who primarily make great single player games the Switch has been lucrative for them and they are pursuing the Switch aggressively in the future.
