Nintendo Switch leads January sales in the US, with a general drop to the new generation

PS4 and Xbox One begin to show their slowdown while waiting for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Nintendo Switch has been the best selling console of the month of January in the United States . The latest report of the analyst firm NPD Group has shown the hardware sales data for the North American territory, with some very curious details for the next generation of consoles .

First of all, and as we have already mentioned, Nintendo Switch has been the main protagonist in American stores for the month of January, where it has been the first platform both in units sold and in revenues derived from sales.

According to analysts like Daniel Ahmad, Switch sales have remained stable compared to last year, with a small drop in their figures compared to 2019 before the Lack of a great release in December. On the other hand, the sales of PS4 and Xbox One for that month have registered a significant decrease , with numbers below those of PS3 and Xbox 360 in the same period of 2013, a clear sample of the change of cycle before the next generation.

On the other hand, the Xbox One Elite Series 2 Wireless controller has been the best-selling accessory of the month in the United States for the third consecutive month. Overall, hardware sales have fallen 35% in the territory compared to 2019, mainly due to the decline in sales of PS4 and Xbox One.

Not surprisingly, both PS5 and Xbox Series X are scheduled to launch for the last quarter of this year, something that affects the purchase decision of consumers on the straight to launch. We will have to see how other factors influence the price , when it is released, although some recent reports suggest that Sony is having trouble adjusting the cost of its console .
