This time, the game would reach the Nintendo console at the same time as the other platforms.
During the course of the QuakeCon 2018, Bethesda announced that DOOM Eternal would arrive to Nintendo Switch in addition to the mandatory versions of PC, PS4 and Xbox One. In an interview with Eurogamer, Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin (producer and director, respectively) pointed out some characteristics of the launch of DOOM Eternal in the hybrid console of Nintendo.
Determined to treat this version of the game as a "first-class citizen", Stratton confirmed that Bethesda will try to launch DOOM Eternal on all platforms at the same time, although it could end up not being so if there were setbacks. What is certain is that Panic Button, the people in charge of the 'port' of DOOM (2016) to Nintendo Switch will repeat their adaptation work, and this time they will be working from scratch.
"Before, we made the game and then we took it to Switch," Stratton explains, "and now we're playing the game with Switch in mind, it's good to know in advance which platforms we're targeting." That said, DOOM Eternal 'will run' at 30 frames per second on the hybrid machine, and at 60fps on the other platforms. For now, there is no release date for the long-awaited shooter, but you can get a kick out of the DOOM Eternal presentation gameplay.
