Gabe Newell: "Pokémon is more valuable than any Valve product"

The executive considers the Nintendo franchise a reference worldwide.

In a recent press event, Gabe Newell, president of Valve, has spent a few minutes talking about the Pokémon series as a reference when carrying out the immediate plans of his company, with Artifact being his most anticipated project.

"If you look beyond Magic the Gathering, for us there are a couple of keys to extract, like the kind of designers or the people who are dedicated to thinking about the public, Pokémon carried out this incredible work," says Newell. The executive also ensures that it is the mirror in which everyone looks to make a card game or any interline series, among others. "They've done it better than anyone, it's still the most valuable entertainment franchise in history, more than the Super Bowl, certainly much more than any Valve product, more than Harry Potter, Pokémon is that."

Artifact, the card game based on the DOTA 2 universe, will definitely take Pokémon as inspiration to carry out some elements inside and outside the game itself. It does not yet have a release date, although recently it was seen in an extensive video.
