The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Beginner's Guide [Tips&Tricks]

In this guide, we offer advice for those who begin their journey on Nintendo Switch.

Since its first release in 2011, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has become the most popular in the series and a modern classic. It has appeared in the main consoles of seventh and eighth generation and PC. In this guide, we want to give an initial push to the first Dragon Bloods that start their adventure in the latest versions of the title: Nintendo Switch and virtual reality devices. Choose your character well, do not miss the best initial bonuses and do not miss out on your first few hours.

Create a character: races and roles

Soon after starting the game, you will have to create your character, as is logical. In the character selection screen, you will find several races at your disposal: high elves, forest elves, dark elves, argonianskhaji, orcs, nordic, imperial, Breton and red guards. All the characters can learn the same skills and handle the same weapons, but they enjoy bonuses and characteristic abilities that make them more useful when fulfilling certain roles, so it is not a bad idea to specialize in what is best given to them if it is your desire. There is no "right" way to do things, but it is advisable to focus on some specific skills instead of uploading them all a bit.

If you like to play as a warrior, you could start as a Nordic, Orc, Imperial or Red Guard.

If your thing is more like stealth, you may be interested in the skills of an argoniankhajiita or elf of the forest.

In case you prefer the wizard's style, a Breton, high elf or dark elf could come in handy.

Your appearance has very little weight in the rest of the game: some characters are directed to you in a different way depending on your race, and your sex guarantees a slight discount when negotiating with merchants of the opposite sex, who also receive a slight extra damage of a specific spell. In general, and taking into account that it is not possible to modify the appearance of your character later, simply choose the protagonist that you like the most.

Visit the guardian stones

Before arriving at Cauce Boscoso, just minutes after completing the tutorial, you will find marked on the minimap an enclosure with three menhirs called "guardian stones," which will also be indicated by Hadvar or Ralof if you accompany them. When interacting with any of them, you will get a permanent passive bonus that will allow you to upload some of your skills 20% faster.

More specifically, the Warrior's Stone helps you improve your combat skills beforehand; the Stone of the Thief will do the same with those of stealth, and the Stone of the Magician will do it with your magical skills. As we say, no character is limited to doing one or another thing, but it is advisable that you choose your way of fighting and stay true to it to unlock the best skills first.

Do not you think that's enough? If you allow yourself to sleep in a bed, when you wake up you will get an additional 10% bonus for the speed of development of all skills for eight hours.

Head to Whiterun

After escaping from the dragon in the game tutorial, it is a good idea to follow your imperial companion to Helgen, where you can get important information about the history of the game, food and basic equipment, as well as the mission of the Golden Claw in the store, which you will complete later. Once you get to Whiterun, talk to the jarl and snoop at your whim with the characters and merchants of the enclosure. There is a bit of everything, and following the jarl's mission you will end up getting your first scream.

Horses

It may seem that a horse is the first medium-term acquisition you should make, although you probably need to think about it better. They sell for 1,000 gold in the stables, they have little health and they will not serve you to run much faster than on foot. If you need a horse in your first hours, it may be more useful to steal it and use it for as long as you need until you get to Sombra, a horse (which also appeared in Oblivion) practically immortal and faster than a normal one. current. It is obtained as a reward of a mission of the Dark Brotherhood, although you will not be able to join it until you reach Falkreath.

Some more tricks...

We are all good until one day we stop being one. If at some point you want to benefit from some oversight of the game, we will not say anything to anyone. Although we also have extra tips perfectly planned by Bethesda.

If you have a follower who teaches you skills, pay him one time to teach you a lesson, then take your gold from your inventory and repeat the process as much as you want.

Did you know that the fast trip is available from the beginning? Talk to the drivers of horse carriages in the stables: between 20 and 50 gold can take you to any region, and you can go back whenever you want.

Lydia, and the other followers do not die in combat unless you kill them. The most they do is temporarily falter. They are valuable allies!
