The director of Final Fantasy XIV wants to take it to Switch and Xbox One

The idea would be to build a "large community" without separation by servers.

One of the most important MMORPG of the moment, Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn, could appear soon on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, according to the words of the director Naoki Yoshida collected by the portal Eurogamer.

"I would like to open it to as many platforms as possible; we want to include as many more players as possible. Not only Switch and even Xbox if you are interested, but we also want to expand the repertoire. We would like to see it in the greatest possible variety of hardware. Even with the differences from one machine to another, they would be playing the same world with cross-server functionality. That is something rooted in Final Fantasy XIV, so we would like to keep it as a policy, "says the Japanese creative.

For now, the game is available on PS3, PS4, PC, and Mac. Saving the players from the first console and Steam, the others remain together on the same server. It is expected that hardware differences between potential new platforms generate differences in the graphics that do not affect the development of the game.

"We do not intend to divide the servers into platforms. We work in a large community. I am interested in other platforms, of course; I hope they change their policies and ways of seeing things. I am an MMORPG player, I would love to play with people from all over the world, and we have been talking to the representatives of those platforms about bringing the game to their machines. It is something that is being debated positively. It is not that we do not do anything: we talk to them, and their representatives are showing a more positive attitude. "
